Pekingese skin allergy?
Try adding a little fish oil to his food. Also get him checked out by your vet. It could be allergies or several other problems. No point in guessing.

Congrats on your new family member,
Reply:Many people change to a more natural raw diet because of their pets' skin conditions. Often the inappropriate and poor quality ingredients in many commercial pet foods contribute to skin and digestive problems in many dogs.

From what I have read the dog may lose more hair as the unhealthy stuffs falls out but the regrowth will be lush and shiny. Fish oil capsules are often recommended with coat problems too.

Try oatmeal baths. Get the Aveeno ones for babies(human) or get some doggie shampoo with oatmeal. Worked for my human baby's skin problems and I hear it's a great natural cure for pets also.
Reply:Alergies, skin conditions, are often food related. Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. If you want to learn more check out: http://www.sagekeep.com/petfood.htm www.api4animals.org/facts?p=359%26amp; more=1 http://animalark.eapps.com/animal/PetFoo...
Reply:I agree that the cause is likely to be food related.

With commercial foods, it hard to rule out one allergy at a time. I would recommend feeding your dog raw meat on the bone and stopping the steroid (slowly as their can be problems if they are stopped suddenly). I know there is a lot of controversy over raw feeding, but look at the example nature has set for you from the dogs closes living "relative" - the wolf. If you look up a dogs recommended daily nutrient guide in vet books, you will see there is no requirement for carbohydrates list. Therefore, there is no use to feed your dog grains (a major component of dog food and common allergens).
Reply:ID CHANGE THE BEDDING TO A REGULAR TOP SHEET LIKE WE USE THAT IS DOUBLED AND TUCKED IN OVER THE PRESENT PILLOW...HE MIGHT BE ALLERGIC TO HIS BEDDING.........ALSO.... TO COMFORT HIM.....FILL A TUB UP OF VERY WARM WATER AND J USE JOHNSONS BABY SHAMPOO TO CLEAN HIM....LET HIM SOAK IN THE WATER UP TO HIS CHIN FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR.....IT SHOULD EASE THE RASH ALOT. DO IT A COUPLE A DAYS PER WEEK UNTIL ITS GONE....THEY HAVE VERY SENSITIVE SKIN AND ONLY ONE COAT OF FUR....HAVE ONE ....IT MIGHT BE BEST TO CHANGE HIS FOOD TO SOMETHING LESS RICH...LIKE THE NEW DRY BRUISER AND JUST A TABLESPOON OF WET BENEFUL....NOT THE BAGGED STUFF IT HAS TOO MUCH OIL IN IT..
Reply:try an oatmel bath for dogs...you dont want to use human stuff on them cause then it will really dry out his skin.

also try looking into his diet...lots of dog food are wheat or corn based and that is not good for dogs.

do not fall in to the science diet crowd. its not good. try anything by purina, they even have a all natural dog food.
Reply:Check with your vet to see if they can recommend a board certified veterinary dermatologist. This link may also help

Another great option would be to check into holistic veterinarians. They can offer natural alternatives to helping with allergies.

Good luck!

Skin allergy to Pug but not other dogs??

I have been and am around many dogs put only after holding or touching a pug do i get itchy skin and bumps. Is this a normal issue with only pugs? is it the type of food my pug is eating? PLEASE HELP!!!

Skin allergy to Pug but not other dogs??
i would guess that this is specific to your dog. there is probably something in his environment (possibly food), dog bed, carpeting, that is getting on his coat and irritating your skin. wash him well with a brush and see if you have the same reaction.

HTH
Reply:my tick or fleas but i don't think theres and differences between breeds
Reply:It could be the dog's dandruff because my mom is allergy to dog and the doctor told her it was the dandruff from the dogs
Reply:It is very possible. If he's eating a low-quality food like Purina or Alpo, they tend to cause skin problems. You can switch him over to Avoderm, which is much better quality and really good for the skin and coat since it has oatmeal and avocado skins. After a few weeks he should be looking much better.

You might also take him to the vet, just to make sure he doesn't have something worse, or a flea infestation.

Acne or skin allergy? please help..?

i had a period that i would break out on my arms due to an allergy to coolent at my job. i went a a dermatologist and my doctor 4 times. i was prescribed 4 different medications and nothing helped. eventually it lightened up and i hardly get anymore breakouts. its almost as if i had to build an immunity or now the weather has changed. it could have been a mix of collent and sweat cause the shop i work for doesnt have airconditioning and the temps were near 90's and 100's at times.

heres my new problem. im starting to break out really really bad on my sholders and back now. tons if tiny zits that almost seem like blisters. hard to explain. some of the larger seem like there little puss pockets. when i touch them they hurt. i havent changed anything as far as my shower routine. i sometimes take up to two showers a day due to my job. im not using any different shower products. im using zest body wash and bar soap like i always have.

is this the same allergy? is it acne or allergy?

Acne or skin allergy? please help..?
actually, its bad to ignore them because worst case scenario, they're gonna get worse. What you could do to help is wash the affected area with a glycerin or sorbitol based soap. and when you use it DON'T use a sponge and DON'T scrub. Instead, just use your fingers to massage it onto your skin then pat it dry. and if you keep doing that it should work.
Reply:acne. Dont do anything! Dont pop! I had the same problem and I just left them alone. Try to take your mind off them.

Skin allergy: my cousin has this scaly, lumpy, red skin in her crouch (singit) and it has dark skin around it?

My cousin (girl) showed me and my sister her crouch because we kept on asking her to wear a bathing suit like we all do when going for a swim. Instead, she always uses a short shorts and a t-shirt. She explained to us why and we saw these scaly, lumpy, reddish marks (circles and some are lines) and dark skin around it. She said if it dries out, it peels and leaves a reddish, lumpy, wet marks. I thought at first, maybe it's because of the underwears she's using, thought maybe they're too tight because she's a huge girl. But then, my sister noticed that there were black spots in between her thighs. What do you think is it?

Skin allergy: my cousin has this scaly, lumpy, red skin in her crouch (singit) and it has dark skin around it?
She could have a fungus or other type of infection. Some larger sized people get dark skin on the inner thighs. She really needs to see a dermatologist. This type of problem could lead to cellulitis, an infection of the layers of the skin. Then it becomes swollen, fiery, and you have high fever, nausea, pain. Then it could enter the bloodstream if untreated. This could also lead to abscess, a pus pocket. it could require surgical treatment, and infection could also go into the bloodstream. Anything that keeps coming back needs to be medically treated.
Reply:Hmmm...maybe it is dry skin...she needs to see a dermatologist :)
Reply:is it a tumor? lol
Reply:i presume she is fat, and don't work out as much?

there is somepart of out body that need muscle movement to move the fluid inside....
Reply:could be eczema or psoriasis espesialy if it itches

Is it possible to have a skin irritation/allergy from down feathers?

I developed a skin irritation on the side of my nose, and on my forehead and on my chest that looked a little bit like acne but it wasnt, it just showed up like scabs. Like it would get itchy, and i would itch it and then they would turn into little red spots and scabs.

People said that i am getting an allergie from the feathers in my down feather baby phat coat, cuz they keep coming out and they get on my clothes and stuff. I was wondering if its possible to get a rash or an allergy or irritation from feathers?

Otherwise, any ideas about what the irritation could be? I have been drinking tea and washing the areas every day, and they seem to be clearing up a little bit. Please help.

Is it possible to have a skin irritation/allergy from down feathers?
simple answer is yes you can develop allergy to feathers skin or lung ,shortness of breath like asthma have an allergy test done if possible and stop wearing coat
Reply:Yes
Reply:Yes, most definitely. I can not even use a one because of the feathers. I am allergic to them and end up with rashes, shortness of breath, and end up using my fast acting inhaler. Best advice if your health is changing around something, get rid of it. Because your body is telling you something. Listen to it, for your body knows what is best for you.
