before, i had a medical check-up, the doctor diagnosed it as fungus but the said fungus was recurring. i later found out that it isn't fungus but skin allergy. the affected area is very itchy and before i couldn't sleep because of severe itchiness. right now, it is still itchy but i won't touch it because it will just effect to sleepless nights because of itchiness. the doctor said before that I am not allowed to perspire because it will just trigger the itchiness more but that was the same doctor who diagnosed me with fungus "infection"%26lt;-i'm not sure with this term. anyway, does this perspiring also applies to skin allergies?
Can exercising worsen the itching when you have skin allergies caused by perfume?
Skin contact with perfumes can cause a reaction like a rash. Especially when exposed to the sun. When you sweat the pores on the skin open wider and this causes more irritation. So any sweating will cause more discomfort.
Avoid using any type of cologne until the rash disappears completely. Then to avoid recurrence spray the air at clothing level and step into the cologne. This will give you the cologne scent yet, not irritate the skin.
I also have a problem with colognes. Expensive or cheap I will break out wherever the cologne touches my skin. I use the walk through spray application and do not have a problem.

Reply:Yes, even for a skin allergy perspiring will irritate the area causing it to itch more. Even something like a misquito bite will become irritated by perspiration.
Reply:Logically, I would think that it would indeed worsen the problem because when you sweat and stuff, it opens your pores up wider, which would make the perfume seep further into your skin. But if you are allergic to perfumes, can't you just switch to hypo-allergenic products? Then you could have some itch-free exercise and not have to worry about it.
Reply:YES.. i got a perm about 10 years ago and had a severe reaction. Ever since then, i get hives and have very sensitve skin to almost everything. Zyrtec really helps me with the itchiness. But I noticed several years ago that when I perspire I break out worse. My doc told me that since my skin is so sensitive i break out from my own sweat. I cant even go for a long walk because the itching is so intense. The only thing that relieves it is a cool shower to wash off all the sweat and after that I am fine. So, Yes, you can definetley develop allergies to your sweat.
Reply:I'm not a doctor, or an expert, but the principle sounds reasonable to me. When you excercise or sweat, your pores are open. If you are reacting to a perfume or fragrance such as the ones added to deodorants and body sprays, the irritant could get into the open pore and have an extra-irritaing effect.

Food Allergy. Itchy Red/hot/dry Skin. Solutions?
My girlfriend is suffering from a Food Allergy for milk products, beef and sea food. Also spicy food.
She is a beautiful girl but she suffers a lot from this allergy. Get's this Allergy at least once a week.
All the food she likes is not good for her.
Sometimes in sleep she end up scratching herself until it's bleeding. Applying a lot of moisturising cream helps to get rid of dryness.
Sometimes she starts to hate herself and go crazy.
Still she's my beautiful Angel!
Any solution for this?

Yes it can be hard but a lot of people have specific nutritional needs and have to stay away from things they like. Allergies get worse with repeated exposure to the offending substance, not better, and anaphylactic shock can be fatal.

need a vet in massachusettes that will make a payment plan with me to help my Missy she is 12 yrs old and i know she has an allergy to flea bites she is in bad shape, she keeps licking herself to the point where she gets sores all over....(around the tail and on her back end) she is always scratching herself. Do you see fleas on her? It could be a bacterial infection, yeast, mange, ringworm...to name a few. It also could be flea allergy dermatitis if she had a bad infestation. She could also have something else wrong that is causing immune suppression allowing for secondary infections to occur.
Do you have money for at least a office visit? (Usually $25-$45). Call all the local Vet's and get quotes for office visits. Make an appt @ the cheapest one. Let them examine her, they may find the culprit and send you home with antibiotics, it may be something as simple as that. If they need to do more tests (skin scraping, fungal cultures, blood work etc) ask for a detailed estimate and at that time ask if you can make payments.
If you already have a Vet that you've been to before, they may be a little more willing to make payment arrangements for you.
You can also try calling local rescue groups (not the humane society, animal control etc) small local groups (you can do a search on petfinder for local groups) and ask for some assistance. Most small groups have a Vet that they take their rescues to for reduced fees. They may allow you to take your cat to their Vet under their account and you will pay reduced fees for services.
If all else fails, you will need to give her to someone who can get her some treatment, as sad and heartbreaking as that will be.

Natural remedies for Dog skin allergies.?
He's a St. Bernard and has skin allergies. We've taken him to the vet and had all kinds of tests run. The outcome is just that he has allergies. We've tried many thing, and I am tired of giving him high doses of allergy medications and steroids. I would like to know of some topical/natural things I can try to relieve his itching. I've heard essential oils and such work wonders. Also, I would need dosages/instructions for him. He's 150 lbs, and has long fur.

Pit bull skin allergies?
Hey all
I have a pit bull who is pretty much hairless on his belly.
He gets terrible skin allergies that is all red and inflammed. I have tried all sorts of anti allergy creams including quartozon (? not sure of spelling) but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?? I hate to think of my poor dog suffering...

First thing to suspect is his food. Dogs with allergies shouldn't eat corn, soy or wheat..
Second common cause is flea allergy. If your dog isn't eating those items, or is flea free, then it is likely environmental, and caused by pollen or household cleaners, lawn spray, etc..

Reply:There are a few different medications on the market at the moment. 1 that we have had the most success with at my work (I am a vet nurse) is Atopica. It is a twice daily tablet but they are VERY expensive. Regular hydrobaths with medicated shampoo is another way to keep ontop of the allergy but will never cure it. Cortisone has a fairly high success rate but you need the correct dosage and even just missing one tablet can make them flare up again. Cortisone also isn't very good as a long term treatment. I would suggest taking him to a vet that has specialty training in dermatology. They can do skin scraping and check for different yeats and pyoderma and give you the right medication to help treat him. No matter what you do though it is going to be something you are going to have to treat for life as there is no "cure" for skin problems...only treatment to stop the majority of flare ups

I can sympathize with you, one of our dogs as chewed her belly, legs, chest, ears, snout all free of hair we joke saying that she's a chihuahua that is trying to be a Mexican hairless, but really it is VERY sad. It constant itchy drives her and us nuts, and I've lots track of the vet visits....everything from antibiotics (she gets infected too) to ointments to creams to bathes with SelsunBlue shampoo, flea and parasite control you name it. Vet tells us last time ---last resort Predisone----which we REALLY don't want to use because of other health problems she has could be excerbated.
Then about 3 weeks it dawned on me, is she allergic to grain??!!! For a long shot I thought i give it a try and searched high and low for canned or dry dog food with out ANY grain. well I found some (and she likes it too big bonus) and we have been giving it to her now for 2 weeks (even pure 100% liver treats and Absloutely NO cat food ---little sneak).
I bet you couldn't guess what has happened????
Thats right she seems to be healing, the itching is subsiding still some but way less, her sores are healing, and she is HAPPY! again. Yeah!!!!!
So I guess my point is could it be something like that???
With soooo many kids with crazy allergies these days, why
would it be any different for dogs???
I figured there was no harm in trying, and yes the food costs more BUT hey, look how much I've spent on all the vet bills and meds, not to mention sleepless, itch filled nights.

food, maybe try an elimination diet, I had a friend whose Afghan could only eat sweet potatoes and salmon or he got a ear infection. I know alot of people object to giving Bully breeds raw meat, but maybe you could try it chopped up with
sweet potatoes, just to see.

there is also a First Mates, and some Wellness has no grains, sorry to the responses above but:
1) dogs can be allergic to WAY more things then just soy,wheat,corn,fleas,and the environment but those are the majors.

I have a pit bull who is pretty much hairless on his belly.
He gets terrible skin allergies that is all red and inflammed. I have tried all sorts of anti allergy creams including quartozon (? not sure of spelling) but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?? I hate to think of my poor dog suffering...

First thing to suspect is his food. Dogs with allergies shouldn't eat corn, soy or wheat..
Second common cause is flea allergy. If your dog isn't eating those items, or is flea free, then it is likely environmental, and caused by pollen or household cleaners, lawn spray, etc..

Reply:My dog has serious food allergies. I give him Benedryl (over the counter) 75mg to easy his pain and inflammation. I'm not too thrilled with any kind of steroids and that stuff worked. My vet turned me on to it. Hope this helps!! Oh, and it's cortisone. Good luck!! DOGS RULE!!

Reply:There are a few different medications on the market at the moment. 1 that we have had the most success with at my work (I am a vet nurse) is Atopica. It is a twice daily tablet but they are VERY expensive. Regular hydrobaths with medicated shampoo is another way to keep ontop of the allergy but will never cure it. Cortisone has a fairly high success rate but you need the correct dosage and even just missing one tablet can make them flare up again. Cortisone also isn't very good as a long term treatment. I would suggest taking him to a vet that has specialty training in dermatology. They can do skin scraping and check for different yeats and pyoderma and give you the right medication to help treat him. No matter what you do though it is going to be something you are going to have to treat for life as there is no "cure" for skin problems...only treatment to stop the majority of flare ups

I can sympathize with you, one of our dogs as chewed her belly, legs, chest, ears, snout all free of hair we joke saying that she's a chihuahua that is trying to be a Mexican hairless, but really it is VERY sad. It constant itchy drives her and us nuts, and I've lots track of the vet visits....everything from antibiotics (she gets infected too) to ointments to creams to bathes with SelsunBlue shampoo, flea and parasite control you name it. Vet tells us last time ---last resort Predisone----which we REALLY don't want to use because of other health problems she has could be excerbated.
Then about 3 weeks it dawned on me, is she allergic to grain??!!! For a long shot I thought i give it a try and searched high and low for canned or dry dog food with out ANY grain. well I found some (and she likes it too big bonus) and we have been giving it to her now for 2 weeks (even pure 100% liver treats and Absloutely NO cat food ---little sneak).
I bet you couldn't guess what has happened????
Thats right she seems to be healing, the itching is subsiding still some but way less, her sores are healing, and she is HAPPY! again. Yeah!!!!!
So I guess my point is could it be something like that???
With soooo many kids with crazy allergies these days, why
would it be any different for dogs???
I figured there was no harm in trying, and yes the food costs more BUT hey, look how much I've spent on all the vet bills and meds, not to mention sleepless, itch filled nights.
I sure hope that this might help you, I'd look at your doggies
food, maybe try an elimination diet, I had a friend whose Afghan could only eat sweet potatoes and salmon or he got a ear infection. I know alot of people object to giving Bully breeds raw meat, but maybe you could try it chopped up with
sweet potatoes, just to see.

German Shepherd Skin Allergies?
I have a 7-year old german shepherd that has been suffering with skin allergies for the majority of her life. She received an allergy test a little while back and, to our chagrin, is allergic to a lot of stuff (bluegrass, alder, ash, maple, elm, housedust, mites, rabbit, poultry mix, lamb, barley, etc). She was put on a special diet (Wellness food's "Simply Food Solutions-Duck Formula"), and takes keflex (500 mg) to alleviate her constant itching. She gets weekly medicated baths as well. Nothing seems to work; she is constantly itching and gnawing at herself. The poor thing barely has fur anymore! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Our SOP is a short course of corticosteroids (prednisone) and cephalexin to alleviate the skin infection and inflammation, to allow her a break from the itch and the skin to heal.
Next I would consult with your vet about different options for therapy. Have you tried high dose antihistamines? (Benedryl, loratadine, etc) There is also another heavy-hitter in immune suppression in the class of keflex called cyclosporine, we have great success with it in our severe allergy patients. If your vet seems stumped, or unwilling to pursue other possibilities, I would ask for a referral to a dermatology specialist.
Good luck, don't give up! Keep up the weekly bathing, make sure she is parasite free, and keep trying!
Reply:make her food yourself, do as much research on natural organic diet for dogs, even that B.A.R.F. raw meat diet....have you tried instead of medicated bath using Aveeno oatmeal products?? get the baby bath to try first. there is regular and milk bath....even , i know this sounds silly, nut get the baby aveeno buttcream put it on an area sh cannot lick off, and see if it will help calm any redness or irritation. its worth a try. and a lot cheaper too...there is one other thing.... it is called bag balm. looks like vaseline, smells but not too much. farmers use it on cows and every other animal, i have used it on dog and cat paws chapped from winter snow and salt. hard to find but it worked. it is in a green square tin. was less then 10 bucks i think, lasts forever...
Reply:I have heard that WALTHAMS SENSITIVITY CONTROL food is very good for allergies OR HILLS SCIENCE PLAN Canine D/d, it is an egg and rice based food, it is a matter of trying different foods and combo's every 6 months to see what helps, also try MALASEB ANTBACTERIAL / ANTIFUNGAL SHAMPOO, i actually have not come across a skin condition that this shampoo cannot help with, ask your vet for a distributor where you live.

It works well for some dogs with severe allergies and since you already know what she is allergic to it wouldn't take much more to get the allergen made up. You can use the products found at human drug/health stores or you could try one of the veterinary products (my vet sells one called EFA-caps and usually recommends it for people whose dogs have allergies in addition to other therapies).

Skin allergies?
I've had a strange skin allergy for about a year. All of a sudden it pooped up outta nowhere. I thought it was maybe due to stress but I don't think it is since I'm not stressed anymore and it's still there. It comes up in wierd bumps. try cetaphil for soap too. there are some stuff in regular soaps that are irritant, specially with eczema.
bad news is, once you have it, it never goes away. it'll react when weather changes, stress in life, and just because.

I have a skin allergy that ive had for 2 years now. They use to only be on my arms but now show up everywhere. they first look like little bug bites and can swell up to 4 inches in diameter. they havent swelled up in a long time just look like bites. Some months i barely have any and then all of the sudden its everywhere. Ive done food tests, blood tests etc. the doctor said its not bugs. ive kept diaries of things i eat or touch and nothing seems to match up. does anyone have simular reactions or have an idea of what to do or what it is.

I took her to the vet and he said it was skin allergies. He told me that it is not worth the money to see what she is allergic to. Her skin is very scabby and her hair is falling out. She is on flea medication, so I know it is not a flea allergy. I have racked my brain trying to figure out what it could be from. You will need to gradually change her food to the new brand over a course of several weeks. How you do this is to take 3/4 of the old food and mix it together with 1/4 of the new food for one week. Then 1/2 of the new with 1/2 of the old for another week. Finally, 3/4 of the new food mixed with 1/4 of the old for a week before finally 100% of the new food. Please keep in mind that some cats absolutely just don't like some brands of foods either so you may need to consider another brand and then again gradually mix the old kind with the new one to help her adjust. It just cannot be done any other way without making the cat very sick.
Again if it is in fact food allergies you will see the results once your cat has switched completely to the new food and then count two months after that time.

Healthfood stores carry them as well as herbal flea collars which also work quite well without poisoning your cat like normal flea collars do. I've used them for years and they work very well. So starting in november of 2005 I started getting this skin allergy. It starts out looking like a mosquito bite but if i scratched more or didnt take anything for it like benadryl it could swell up. it can be 8 inches in diameter and swell upward a little. And is incredibly ithcy probably worse then anything your've experienced. ive been to the allergy docotor and they did all these test but they were all negative. the only thing he could do was give me medicaine. So a little after it started it doesnt get that big and i think its because i can control it a little. but i always have bumps all over. they hardly ever get big anymore. and sometimes its worse then other times. its been non stop since 2005. ive done a food diary and tried to think of anything it could be but still have no idea. has anyone ever had this problem???

I started taking allergy shots about two months ago, and just recently--within the last week or so--I noticed that my face is very dry and "tight" feeling. I know that allergy pills (Benadryl in particular) can dry out the body, but can shots do the same thing? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

The only time my face feels dry and tight is in the winter (in Ohio) when the humidity is very low. Is the humidity really low lately where you live? Are you using something different to clean your face? If you have allergies, there are always new things to get allergic to, unfortunately. So the cleanser you used on your face that used to be fine may now be causing a problem. When my son was a teenager, he bought some good ol' Noxzema for his face and immediately complained about it burning. His younger sister tried it and also complained. I washed my face with it (ah, it brought back memories of my youth...) and while the menthol in it was tingly, as soon as I rinsed and dried my face, it felt fine. I asked my kids if their faces were still burning, and they said they were, so I told them not to use it any more (duh.). The next time we were at the store, we found some Noxzema for sensitive skin that advertised it was Phenol-Free. Phenol was one of the chemicals my son had tested positive for, and obviously his sister was too, but not me.
You really have to put on your detective hat when you have allergies and sensitivities. Good luck!

Every summer when it is really humid out, my mom and I will get itchy bumps (hives) on the tops of our hands and between our knuckles. It started when I was around 6. We have gone to a pediatrician, an allergy doctor, and a dermatologist and they weren't sure either. They just prescribed us hydrocortizone, but too much can cause blood poisoning and I get nervous when I use it. Do you know what this is and what I can do about it?

I got allergy testing done and found out that I'm allergic to 50% of the most common weeds in my area! I didn't like using hydrocortisone either. I found that if you mix two drops of lavender essential oil (assuming you're not allergic to it!) to ten parts witch hazel (you can buy it at walgreens) and apply it to the rash, it helps. Other than that, I just have to suffer through the summer with Benadryl! I hope you find something to help you!

Reply:Since it happens in the summer, it could be any number of things that are in the air during the summer time- including heat and humidity itself, in some extremely rare cases.
Try to find out what you're allergic to, and either get it out of your environment or- as a last resort- move. You and your mom do both sound miserable.

Itching Skin- Skin Condition or Plain Allergy?
About 3 years ago, I started noticing that my arms, back and chest would uncontrollably itch, and the coldest possible shower is the only thing that relieves.
The feeling is as though I am lightly being poked all over, it feels very localised, as if it were sharp. About 30 different places will have this feeling, and then it changes to different locations almost immediately.
I have been to the doctors about it, and they performed tests, and concluded that I had low allergy to cats, grass, and a high allergy to tuna.
This only seems to happen in the, particularly this time of the year. I just can't understand why they say its these factors considering I have lived with cats everyday of my life (I am 19), and I virtually have a whole can of Tuna on a sandwich for lunch and have no effects.
I can have no contact with these, but experience itching, generally immediately after I begin sweating.
I can't exercise because I immediately begin sweating and itching, and gaining weight fast.

It sounds like you have dry skin. It can make you feel like you're being poked. I feel exactly like that if I don't moisturize. Since you're a guy you probably don't use a moisturizer or body lotion. In the winter the skin gets more dry. Get a body lotion (you can get unscented) and apply it after every shower. Even if your skin looks normal it may still need moisturizing to protect it from the air and wind.
What you said about the sweating makes me think your pores and sweat glands are irritated by something. You may want to change soaps and laundry detergent. Think about the chemicals you're exposed to that could cause itching. It could be a food, but I think it's more likely something you have skin contact with.

of a couple of reactions towards mayonaise and meringue. When he was 5 his skin test showed negative but she wanted to wait one more year before giving the okay on a food challenge test. This year, at 6, his skin test and blood test were neg. and we were scheduled for a food challenge test when I had given him a bite of an italian muffaleta without thinking. Well, he had a reaction, not severe, but little whelps around the mouth and itchy. I called and got the ingredients of the sandwich and mayo was the only thing on there I could identify with his allergy. (he is also allergic to tree nuts and shell fish). I canceled his food challenge test because I assumed this meant he still hadn't outgrown the egg allergy. This was 6 months ago. The office called me to confirm a follow up and I told them I didn't go through with the test so I wanted to cancel the follow up and explained to the nurse why. I have a cat with skin lesions...I think it may be an allergy???
My three year old cat was so itchy two years ago and developed skinlesions that would scab and bleed. I took her to two separate vets. They did food trials, bloodwork, fleas negative, ringworm negative, ear mites negative, feline leukemia negative. They tried antibiotics, flea meds, and gave steroids for relief. To make along story short, before consenting to a biopsy or expensive allergy testing, I went to a local natural petfood store and got some different food. She has been perfectly fine for a whole year. Now, two weeks ago , she has started with the skin problems again. Anybody else have similar experience?? I have made appt. with vet next week but wonder if anyone has advice.

That's how we found out our cat was allergic to Rosemary Extract, it'd been raised up 3 lines in the Royal Canin Siamese and she suddenly broke out in little BB size bumps everywhere. A pair of cats on one of the lists I was on had the same issue and we saw it was the change made by the manufacturer that caused it.
Check for a diffrent food, if the current one isn't working anymore. It's sometimes all you can do with allergy prone cats. You don't want them on steroids for too long.

They said it was a fungis but, they did not know what caused it. I just kept on with the antibiotics, two runs and kept him really clean. It took months to go away but now he has been free of it for almost a year. good luck.

She's eats California Natural which has very limited ingredients and we rotate her between the lamb and chicken foods.. I would still take her to the vet though for a skin scraping and other tests just in case they do find something this time..

Allergy to own skin bacteria?
I have a child at my work which has had a rash spreading through her intire body for the past week and doctor after doctor they finally said she is allergic to her own skin's bacteria?
Does anyone know anything about this and if So can you please give me some links or information about this?

Reply:That bacteria would be staph which grows normally on the skin but if you get an over abundance of this bacteria for whatever reason or your resistance is down you can get an infection from this. We have all had some of these types of infections and it can and is actually quite common. some become more sever then others.

Allergy reaction or skin disorder?
i have this problem that's been plaguing me for years. Been to many doctors but, each time they give different reasons and medications that don't really work. My problem goes like this:
1st stage: my lips will swell and it'll sting very badly.
2nd stage: the swelling would reduce
3rd stage: after swelling, lips will be very very dry and chapped
4th stage: chapped lips will peel and bleed quite badly
This is sometimes accompanied by rashes on my right hand's fingers.
I'm wondering if others do suffer the same as me (coz, almost all that i know don't). Several diagnoses include ezcema, lack of vitamins and allergy reaction. Does anyone know the real answer?

Boy, if this doesn't hit home. I have the same problem and it has been diagnosed as a skin allergy. I find that if I just drink water and not carbonated beverages it helps. Tomatoes really make my lips swell or tomato sauces. I find that Carmex helps to heal them, I buy it at the local CVS pharmacy here. Take a good multi vitamin in the morning, that helps me and keep hydrocortizone 1% cream on the shelf for your hands. Dish detergent irritates the rash so I use gloves when I do dishes or any household cleaning. Also I keep Benedryl on had, it is over the counter and an allergy medication that at one time was only prescription. Good Luck.

Reply:sounds like allergy to me... try to remember what kind of foods you had at the breakout, process of eliminiation. Doesn't hurt to do a full allergy test just to rule it out.
Reply:the lips swelling /sting mouth could be cause by a fungi which grows in the mouth.the remedy to this is seeing a dentist for proper washin of the tooth to remove that inside fungi called stepyclococci..the dryness could be lack of vitamins which causea a disease called pellagra.the only remedy is takin enough of fruits..the rashes could be caused by athretis which as a result of comsumption of bad or polluted water. this could be corrected by seen the doctor to flush out the bad water in the system.also u take antibiotics drugs to fight against those reaction.take also what is called fuseen a strong antibiotics to destroy those fungi growing on the body.

Also my son went through swollen lips last year. They where red around the whole lip. Took him to an allergist and he said to keep away from cinninmon, mint (toothpast) and chap stick

Your symptoms are pretty to similar to that of my sister's.
We are not quite sure what it is as well... but she did get better after she went through a detox programme.

I'm wondering if others do suffer the same as me (coz, almost all that i know don't). Several diagnoses include ezcema, lack of vitamins and allergy reaction. Does anyone know the real answer?
Allergy reaction or skin disorder?
Boy, if this doesn't hit home. I have the same problem and it has been diagnosed as a skin allergy. I find that if I just drink water and not carbonated beverages it helps. Tomatoes really make my lips swell or tomato sauces. I find that Carmex helps to heal them, I buy it at the local CVS pharmacy here. Take a good multi vitamin in the morning, that helps me and keep hydrocortizone 1% cream on the shelf for your hands. Dish detergent irritates the rash so I use gloves when I do dishes or any household cleaning. Also I keep Benedryl on had, it is over the counter and an allergy medication that at one time was only prescription. Good Luck.

Reply:sounds like allergy to me... try to remember what kind of foods you had at the breakout, process of eliminiation. Doesn't hurt to do a full allergy test just to rule it out.
Reply:the lips swelling /sting mouth could be cause by a fungi which grows in the mouth.the remedy to this is seeing a dentist for proper washin of the tooth to remove that inside fungi called stepyclococci..the dryness could be lack of vitamins which causea a disease called pellagra.the only remedy is takin enough of fruits..the rashes could be caused by athretis which as a result of comsumption of bad or polluted water. this could be corrected by seen the doctor to flush out the bad water in the system.also u take antibiotics drugs to fight against those reaction.take also what is called fuseen a strong antibiotics to destroy those fungi growing on the body.

Also my son went through swollen lips last year. They where red around the whole lip. Took him to an allergist and he said to keep away from cinninmon, mint (toothpast) and chap stick

Your symptoms are pretty to similar to that of my sister's.
We are not quite sure what it is as well... but she did get better after she went through a detox programme.

Yorkie with skin problems. Could this be a food allergy?
I am a groomer and have a client with a yorkie that even after I bathed him he smelled bad. After awhile he was diagnosed this yeast and was given Malaseb. Several weeks later he came in with a keratinized area on the back of his neck that was very red. The owners took him to the vet and they gave him another medicated shampoo, powder and a pill (don't know what exactly). I bathed him last week and his skin is just red as a beet. A groomer friend of mine says she think it's a food allergy. She recommended some kind of yorkie food,..." ? Gold" Any suggestions about this problem.

Everyone always assumes it's food allergies, and it may be, but i would want to see the results of a culture....there are dog allergy specialists out there if an allergy is suspected. Their vet will probably have to refer them if he suspects it is an allergy.
Reply:yes most defintely could be a food allergy.we have been through many foods untill we found one now the dog is beautiful full coat and no smell,or reddness or itchyness.If the coat has a red tint to legs underbelly,that could be a yeast infection,but the change of food fixed the problem.

Allergy testing/ skin reaction?
I recently was tested for my outdoor allergies. I had the little pricks on my back %26amp; then shots of it in the arm to double check the ones that came up negative. That was 6 days ago %26amp; some of the red areas on my arm haven't gone away! Should I be concerned about this? I'm not having any bad reactions except it kind of looks like a small rash at the injection sites. I guess I just expected it to have gone away by now.... Help?

No. This is normal and unless they look infected, there is no reason to worry. Sometimes the areas are just super sensitive after the testing. Try putting topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone 1% on the area.

Has anyone experienced a bad skin reaction or allergy to tagless clothing?
My infant primarily wears tagless shirts and has developed a persistant contact rash where his skin touches the tagless print. Has anyone else had a similar experience with tagless clothing? Does anyone know what materials are found in the tagless print (latex or some other allergen)?

Because I get a lot of skin rashes I went for food allergy tests years ago and had about 85 skin pricks done. Turned out that I was allergic to 47 of the 85 things at levels 2-4 (The worst were, Level 3: potato, corn, Aspartame, melon, coconut, pea, hazelnut. Level 4: peanut, soy, mustard, string bean, lentil.) The allergist was surprised that I'd never had serious reactions to anything and even suggested an epipen.
It's been like 15 years and I've still not had a serious reaction, but I still get the rashes too.
Someone told me that it's possible to be allergic to the surface of your own skin so the breaking of the skin for the test could have had more to do with the positive result than the actual allergens that they were testing for.
Has anyone else heard of this?

It's possible that your body has been able to manage the allergy without going to the extreme of having a more serious reaction. It isn't quite understood why some people are less or more allergic. There are people who have +4 reactions to peanuts and never have an issue, some even consume them from time to time. So the research continues to find out why our bodies react the way they do.

If you are getting skin rashes then you need to find out which allergy it is. You can form new allergies at any time. Example - I always drank tea, but in college had a serious reaction and now cannot drink tea at all!

Reply:I've heard of so many reactions showing up on the skin scratch test that they can't really tell which are true allergies/sensitivities.But you may have something called leaky gut, where your intestines when processing foods can leak food proteins out of the gut and it get's absorbed into the blood/lymph. Since these proteins should not be there the body has an allergic reaction, and a rash may occur when the body is overloaded with all these proteins flooding out of the guts. They say if you have many allergies this is a possibility. Avoiding the trouble foods will help but ultimately healing the gut is the best way to prevent more allergies from developing (more types of food proteins from leaking out) There are some ways to help the body heal the gut, just google it. Seeing a naturopathic doctor may help as they can give you specific vitamins etc. that will heal the gut. Good Luck

Is it a skin or blood allergy or what?
my friend has this condition were at night his skin becomes inflammed(similar to the way yur skin will make when u've just had a burn) but it scratches him and it comes out in large and small patches all over his body. in the morning n during the day it not there. his blood type is o+ and he is allergic to medicenes like aspirin so i think these things are all related.

Ive grown up at the beach.. but now in my early 20's i've been trying to stay out of the sun and tanning beds, and I ALWAYS wear SPF 15 on my face and neck. But just recently this summer , everytime i'm in the sun, the next day all of my skin is itchy and i have these small random 'bumps' that extremely itchy. Am i developing an allergy? It is not dry skin, I have been sure to ultra moisturize. Any suggestions?

My 3 year old black lab has some sort of allergy or skin disease..tried everything, now he is on ATOPICA?
So, we've tried countless medicines.. nothing seems to help him.
He itches himself all the time, and he has lost all of his hair on his neck, legs, tummy and ears...the vet doesn't seem to know how to treat it. He is currently on steriods, another medicine to prevent and kill bacteria on his skin, and now Atopica. Does anyone have any experince with Atopica and this kind of conditon with their dog??

What foundations / concealers are best for allergy prone skin?
I have extremely sensitive skin and have tried many many foundations and concealers and the only one my skin can tolerate is from clinique called perfectly real however this does not give me enough coverage. My skin is slightly dry but also prone to blemishes.

Reply:i have my dry spots and im also prone to blemishes. wut i use is maybelline's pure makeup liquid foundation. its made of 50 percent water, so it moisturizes ur skin and it has great coverage. also it doesnt feel caked-on like most liquid foundations. it leaves my skin smooth and it feels like i barely have anything on.

Reply:Try Neutrogena skin clearing oil free make up. It's not sold in the UK anymore but you can get it off ebay. It's an amazing foundation, gives excellent coverage and doesn't clog pores. If you can;t find this then any oil free make up is best for sensitive skin.

Take 1 to 2 table spoon honey , turmericpowder , multani mitti.....

Reply:i have my dry spots and im also prone to blemishes. wut i use is maybelline's pure makeup liquid foundation. its made of 50 percent water, so it moisturizes ur skin and it has great coverage. also it doesnt feel caked-on like most liquid foundations. it leaves my skin smooth and it feels like i barely have anything on.

Best antihistamine for skin rash allergy?? its on my face!!!?
i dont know what it could be that im allergic to, thoguht it was hair dye as it only appeared since i been workin in a hair dressers. but it didnt appear on my hands only my face and neck. its kindof red marks, some with whiteheads and they are itchy. the doctor thought i was only allergic to it when i have it on me, like when im gettin my hair dyed. but.... i havn had my hair dyed since and it has appeared again!!!! how do i get rid of it!! posted another question explainin all details. i want it gone for good!! how do i get rid of it?? i am starting taking anti histamines again as this is third time its appeared since end of august!! and using hyrocortasone creme too. but i used those last time and it has appeared again. so they obviously didnt work last time. please help. i really need your advice!!! x x x x x

Try over the counter Benedryl, and some anti-fungal cream like lotrimin. If it doesn`t get any better, you may need to see a dermatologist for something stronger. Good Luck!!!!!

Maybe you should wear a face mask when you are working around chemicals where you work, especially when mixing chemicals for hair color ( dye). Place a small fan near your work station, keep it on low and in the direction away from you so that you'll get some ventilation from the chemicals. I hope that this helped some and Good Luck.
Reply:I think you need to get an allergy test. The test that would examine your blood and the results would tell on which things and food you are allergic. I don't think taking too much anti-histamines would help you get rid of those allergies. Sometimes, taking too much medicine might cause negative effects on your health. I suggest you to take that test, just to be sure, if those things really come from allergies and for you to know the main cause of the skin reaction or better visit some other physicians of different fields.. :) I hope this can help. Injections under the skin fror allergy testing?
How is this done? Is it sterile needles. Do they come or should they come out sterile packaging? My allergist wants to do them but I have seem the needles all lined up on a tray already. This doesn't seem to sterile to me.

I believe that that was the way that it was done with me, but that was back in 1966. It would take too long to take each needle out and fill it up while you are waiting, so I am presuming that the nurse/receptionist does it in between each patient.

It depends on what you are allergic to, to know if this is the best way of finding out.
I can advise using a kinesiologist as the method used is non invasive and in the hands of a properly trained practitioner is really good.
You can also try a vega machine but this depends very much on the therapists skill.
If it is food allergies the best way is not to eat it for four weeks and then try it. you will soon know if it is an allergy or not. if it is an intolerance then this won't tell you for maybe a day or two. As allergies are different to intolerance's

With a scratch test, they will prick the skin with a needle that has a specified serum (dust, animal, pollens specific to your area).
All material should be clean and sterile. If for some reason you don't trust your doctor, then you should find another doctor. Allergy is a chronic condition. It cannot be cured, it can be controlled. This means you and your doctor are going to have a long term relationship, so you need to have a doctor that you can trust and that makes you comfortable.
